DarkTable: An Open Source alternative for Adobe Lightroom

Came across this software few days back, was searching for an open source alternative for Adobe Lightroom.

Darktable



 While reading and digging about it, many people in forums has asked how to install it on Linux.

In this post i will try to explain how to install and link with few interesting posts on Darktable.

What is darktable?
Here is what darktable site says
         "darktable is an open source photography workflow application and RAW developer. A virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers. It manages your digital negatives in a database, lets you view them through a zoomable lighttable and enables you to develop raw images and enhance them."


How to install on linux?
Open the terminal and run the following commands

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release-plus
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install darktable

If everything went well darktable should be installed on your computer.
